The short answer is no. Luckily, if your pet has contracted Lyme disease it is not contagious. However, the life cycle of ticks are generally “three host ticks,” so if your pet has a tick on them when coming in the house, the tick can feed, and drop into the environment, which can then cause a risk to us.If the tick then latches on to you, then you can get Lyme disease from the same tick if it is a carrier. Ideally, having your pet on prevention will stop it from dropping into the environment and look for a second or third host. If they are not on prevention, always check your dog over whenever they come in from outside, to ensure there is nothing latched on!
